Derek A. Jones, MD, FACS
Dr. Jones moved to Pensacola in 1981 and graduated from Woodham High School in 1985. He graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University and cum laude from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. He completed a six-year residency in the prestigious Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Michigan, which is consistently ranked in the top five nationally. During residency he had the opportunity to work with and learn from past presidents of both the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He was selected Chief Resident in his final year.
Dr. Jones chose to return to Pensacola and has been in practice at the West Florida Medical Center Clinic since 1999. Since arriving at the Medical Center Clinic he has worked closely with Pensacola’s most accomplished facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Samuel J. LaMonte. He assumed Dr. LaMonte’s practice when Dr LaMonte retired in July 2001. Dr LaMonte continues to serve as a mentor and assist with cosmetic facial surgery.
Dr. Jones is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is married and has three children. His interests include fitness, singing in his church choir, and spending time with his family.
