Consultation

A consultation with Dr. Jones will allow you to tell him your concerns about your face, listen to his recommendations for improving your appearance the most, and come to an understanding about an appropriate, individualized plan. Above all, an honest exchange which will help you develop appropriate expectations is paramount. You will also receive full disclosure regarding fees and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Before a consultation, you are encouraged to spend some time analyzing your own face. Look closely at your face. Use a mirror or better yet two mirrors to examine your face from multiple angles. Even better, have someone use a camcorder to videotape your face from all sides. The results may surprise you. As you look at your face, think about what bothers you the most. Is it signs of aging such as baggy eyelids or a turkey-gobbler neck? Do you think your nose is too large? Is there a prominent scar that makes you self-conscious?

When analyzing your face, divide your face into thirds. The upper part of the face includes the forehead and brows; the middle one-third includes the eyelids, cheeks, and nose; and the lower one-third includes the lower cheeks, jaw line, and neck. As your needs for cosmetic surgery are assessed, each third of your face should be kept in mind. Surgery is often directed toward these areas individually. Analyzing your own face is a very important exercise to perform before you consider how facial plastic surgery might help you.
